Christmas Candle Frankincense & Myrrh

Frankincense and Myrrh are probably the very first fragrances to be commercially traded. These resins from trees native to the Arabian penninsula were so highly regarded in ancient times that an entire fleet of ships was exclusively reserved for their transport and trade. An Egyptian papyrus dated 1550 BC lists these two scents as major ingredients for Kyphi, one of the earliest known perfumes. The Magi (the three Holy Kings of the Bible) believed the most precious gifts that they could present  to the son of their God were Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. The enduring allure of these ancient fragrances is undiminished by the passage of time.
